You always here this term this time of year. The summer slow down. This explains why your sales are low or dropping. I have a few theories on this. First of all its not such a bad thing. If your sales drop, your traffic drops, you might be able to figure out where this is going on. But most importantly your ideal would be a traffic drop in one or two places followed by sales drops. Then you know that was your best quality. best converting traffic. Growth hides a lot of problems in a business. So a summer slow down is a good opportunity to figure out what you can do better. The big question a lot of webmasters ask me. Does the summer slow down exist? Well I have to say it certainly does. The concept is pretty basic. With summer time comes more vacation more outdoor things and less time infront of the computer. So thus less sales. Money being spent on vacations and other non-home entertainment. Even the summer Movie lineup can be a partial affect. But people do generally spend less time online this time of the year. But my biggest theory on the summer slow down is a drop of in college students. Some suggestions to combate the summer blues. Put some effort into trying new promo ideas. If there was ever any things you wanted to try and havent gotten around to trying this is the time. You might want to think about what types of stuff summer customers are interested in. I do believe tastes change seasonally or interests switch continuously. Meaning certain types of sites or nitches do well for a while and then kind of drop off. So give something new a try. So dont look at the summer slow down as a death sentence. Look at it as an opportunity to retool, get back on track and focus on how to do better. Have a great summer everyone.
