How to get people to sign up for services when you are essentially giving them what they want for free. While this does seem to be a contradiction of purposes, it really isn't if you look at it in the right way. First of all, you obviously shouldn't have your free galleries display full resolution/low compression images. You need to economize on the quality of the image so as to give the viewer something of an incentive to join the pay site you are advertising for.

Porn is a visual experience, for the most part, and people do appreciate seeing fine detail and in many cases are willing to pay for that. One thing that you have to remember is that viewing high resolution pics is not the only reason that people join up for a pay site. There are other incentives to consider as well that will encourage your visitors to sign up. These include exclusive content, live interactive video feeds, chat rooms and message boards, and fresh content updated on a regular basis. One thing you can do is to have a short 3 or 4 sentence editorial that endorses the many reasons to sign up for the paysite your banner advertising for, right under the banner itself.

Mainly, I think that it is the fresh content and high resolution pics that attracts the biggest crowd so you should think to only sign up to promote only those porn sites that provide this, especially if you are getting an ongoing percentage of the member's subscription fees. Think of it this way, if fresh content weren't a strong incentive, then most men would be happy wanking off to that eight year old copy of Hustler hiding under the mattress and Larry Flint would not sell quite as many subscriptions to his various magazines as he does. The reality is that, unlike a true physical relationship, depending on pictures to satisfy one's sexual cravings does require a constant refreshing of the pics one is using for this purpose. This is just a basic fact of life and has to be played to one's advantage if you are going to make money in this biz.

Now there are a lot of "tricks" that many webmasters use in a foolish effort to extract a profit from their websites. These include the obviously annoying popup windows and exit consoles as well as blind links and deceptive advertising promising "Young Sweet Teens" but deliver aging whores in pigtails instead. My view is that these practices only serve to piss off the visitor and lessen the likelihood that he is actually going to crack open his wallet for any of your advertisers. Believe it or not, honesty will get you much further in this business. You must remember that your potential sign-up has to trust the site on the other end of his internet connection if he is even going to consider handing over his credit card information on the net to sign up for anything at all. I know that when I have a misleading experience on someone's website, I sure as hell am going to associate the same thing in my mind about the people that this site is advertising for as well. Keeping this in mind, neither should you resort to other deceitful tactics like editing, censoring, or cropping the gallery images in an attempt to deny the viewer a satisfying experience. Thinking that he will go ahead and join the pay site so he can see the whole pic is a bad business strategy. He won't. He will just get pissed off and visit someone else's site to find someone who isn't playing games with his time and pleasure.

Now for a dose of reality. Reality here is that most of your visitors are going to be freeloaders and will never ever sign up for a pay site no matter how cheap or how good the quality of the pics. What you have to depend on is the small percentage of people who will eventually sign up for one of the paysites your banners are advertising for. What this means is that you are going to have to compete hard for this very small audience and part of the strategy to doing this is simply using a bit of common sense. Common sense will obviously dictate that you do not want your visitor to get pissed off at you as a result of visiting your site. If you can keep this guy coming back for more and more every time he logs onto the net, you radically increase the odds of gaining his trust enough to where he might actually get curious about one of the sites you are advertising for and sign up. Piss this guy off with a disappointing experience from the gitgo and you can guarantee that you will never see a single penny from this guy ever. Plain and simple.

Okay, so how do you further strategize your site's marketing angle to gain the highest number of conversions possible. Well, for starters, make some sense about the banners you place on your pages. First of all, don't run banner farms. Instead have 2 or 3 quality fast loading ads that are actually related to the type of content that your free gallery has to offer. In other words, if you have a page featuring a college sweetie getting naked, don't have an ad aimed for the gay audience on that page. While this sounds like, "Duh, how obvious!", you would be surprised how much sheer stupidity goes on by webmasters (and I use this term very loosely here) who cannot seem to understand this most basic of concepts. Speaking of banner ads, keep them fresh and rotating. Don't use the same ones over and over again. In my site, ThumbSpy, I have written a rotation scheme that not only targets banners based on the specific content of the page but I also go so far as having up to 50 different banner images that my system randomly selects from to represent any single pay site I advertise for. The goal here is to prevent my visitors from getting numb to the same banner image from seeing it time and time again. For example, the selection of different banners I have on my site for displaying the 50+ Adult Revenue Service niche sites (one of many different accounts that I have hooked up with) numbers in excess of 2000. This sounds extreme but I really believe in keeping ThumbSpy looking alive and fresh to my visitors.

One final strategy I can recommend is to use in your gallery pages the pics that these paysites provide for free so long as their banner is displayed on that page. I do need to clarify that not all free pics are created equally. The one's I like the best are the ones that have the text printed on them that give credit to the paysite that provides them. What this really serves to do is to give your visitor the confidence that "more pics just like these" can be had by signing up for a membership to this site. This is perhaps the most alluring way of getting a conversion out of your visitor. The way his mind will think is that after repeated visits to your galleries and he likes the pics you have there and is bored with the crappy pics he is finding elsewhere, his desire to see more of what you have shown him will often be enough to convince him that a membership to that paysite is just the thing he needs.
